Glashütte Original, the German luxury watchmaker, once again channels the spirit of the 1960s with the new 2023 Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition. The decade was marked by strong contrasts on many fronts, including fashion, culture and politics, much like the watch that now bears its name. The new watch will be one of the brand’s highlights at this year’s WatchTime New York event.
For many vintage watch enthusiasts, Glashütte Original’s Sixties collection is especially appealing because it combines expressive vintage aesthetics with modern internal mechanisms.
This is especially true for the newest addition. The 42 mm round stainless steel case with mushroom-style chronograph pushers draws attention to the intricately designed dial. Its shimmering gray center gradually transitions to darker tones at the periphery, creating a captivating degraded effect. The slightly curved dial is meticulously embossed using original tools and techniques from that era. It features two white Arabic numerals accompanied by engraved hour markers decorated with luminous dots and fine red gold hands.
The 2023 Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition is equipped with a self-winding caliber 39-34, with a power reserve of 40 hours. Its components are meticulously hand-finished, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship. The sapphire crystal case back reveals an intricate Glashütte stripe finish, beveled edges, small polished screws, and a skeletonized oscillating weight crafted from 21-carat gold, featuring a solid double-G logo special.
