Grand Seiko’s latest addition to its Masterpiece Collection, the SBGZ009, represents the finest craftsmanship. Inspired by a snow-covered birch forest, the limited edition of 50 pieces from Micro Artist Studio features a fully engraved 950 platinum case. Each model is individually crafted and hand-engraved with grooves that reflect the shape of the birch tree trunk.

The silver dial complements the 38.5mm platinum 950 case, which features Grand Seiko’s signature Shinshu pattern with a metallic texture. The hour and minute hands as well as the hand-set diamond markers are all made of 14-karat white gold. The minute track, lettering and brand name at the six o’clock position are also engraved. The second hand is tempered in gray.

On the inside, the Spring Drive caliber 9R02 hand-wound movement operates using a double barrel as well as the brand’s Torque Return system, which harnesses unused energy to increase the power reserve – max. is 84 hours, indicated on the back. The highly accurate (±1 second per day) movement is beautifully finished and decorated, with a case inspired by the bellflower, the symbol of Shiojiri, where the watches are made at Micro Artist Studio.
