Rimac Nevera has now become the fastest commercial electric car in the world after reaching a speed of 412 km/h on the track with test racer Miro Zrnčević. This is an incredible achievement for a road-legal Hypercar with an all-electric powertrain, showing that Rimac is ahead of its rivals in terms of performance and handling.

This Rimac Nevera was tested at the Papenburg Car Testing Center in Germany, famous for its two 4km straights. The Hypercar is set to maximum speed mode to help reduce drag while still keeping pressure at an appropriate level to ensure stability when operating at high speeds.

Nevera exited the turn at an impressive speed of up to 250 km/h, reaching a target speed of 412 km/h before the end of the straight. According to Rimac, the top speed – currently confirmed using the Racelogic V-Box high-precision GPS measuring device was simulated during the development of the C-Two prototype.

Notably, this is the highest top speed recorded at the Papenburg automotive testing center. To put it in perspective, the electric vehicle’s new top speed record is higher than the 407 km/h set by the Bugatti Veyron in 2005, although much lower than the 490.48 km /h set by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ in 2019.

“To travel at 412 km/h, which means traveling at one-third the speed of sound, I drove Nevera since the first and to see the car honed to perfection that it is today was a truly emotional moment. The most important thing I learned while trying to reach top speed was how the car was built and stabilized – confirming that our aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics teams had Completed the job excellently.”

The Nevera is equipped with Michelin Cup 2R tires that were tested by a Michelin technician before setting the record. The car has an unlocked 352 km/h speed limit set to protect the tires. However, Rimac says that all Neveras can reach a top speed of 412 km/h during “special customer events with support from the Rimac team and under controlled conditions.” .

As a facelift, the Rimac Nevera is equipped with four electric motors producing a combined 1,887 horsepower and 2,360 Nm of torque, connected to a 120 kWh battery pack. Besides holding the record for the highest top speed among electric vehicles, the Rimac Nevera is also the fastest accelerating commercial vehicle set in 2021.
