Richard Mille differentiates the RM 21-01 Tourbillon Aerodyne line right from the case with a completely new design, made from 5N red gold, reinforcing the outer rim, frame and pillar with Carbon TPT. This composite material is lightweight and highly durable, created by stacking hundreds of layers of carbon fibers on top of each other. Thanks to the automatic rotation process, each layer is staggered by 45 degrees, then heated to 120 degrees Celsius before being machined to micrometer precision.
Similar to the armor layer, the outer edge is responsible for protecting the case and is fixed with 20 long screws. The manufacturer harmoniously combines many elements in the new product including: the striking appearance of the Carbon TPT layers, the glitter of gold, the royal blue color of the cushion plate and the honeycomb pattern.

The sapphire crystal dial provides a transparent window for the hand-wound Caliber RM21-01. The power reserve indicator display is placed in place of the number at 11 o’clock, while the torque indicator occupies the 1 o’clock position.
At 4 o’clock, the function selector is operated by a pusher integrated in the center of the crown, crafted in Carbon TPT and 5N red gold, with the insert in the same material as the white rubber bracelet. The company applies a simple press operation to switch from neutral position (N) to winding (W) and adjusting the time (H).
