Certina is ready for the next diving season with the launch of the Certina DS Super PH1000M. Water-resistant to an extreme depth of 1,000 meters (100 bar), it draws inspiration from the DS-2 Super PH1000M, the mission watch used in the Tektite II program, an underwater habitat project by the United States government, carried out in the spring and summer of 1970 at Great Lameshur Bay, St. John, US Virgin Islands.
The DS Super PH1000M is presented in two versions, both of which faithfully reproduce the distinctive original design. The striking orange variant is limited to 1,000 pieces, while the black dial version is part of the regular production run. Wide indexes and hands with Super-LumiNova coating ensure maximum readability in the dark.
The lightly curved barrel-shaped stainless steel case measures 43.5mm x 42mm. At the 9 o’clock position there is a helium escape valve for use by professional divers. The raised, grooved design of the rotating bezel not only makes it easy to operate but also gives the watch visual depth.
Underneath the signature turtle-engraved solid screw case back is the reliable Powermatic 80 automatic movement, an exceptional Swatch Group caliber with a substantial 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring. anti-magnetic field.
Buyers can choose a black rubber strap or a fabric strap crafted from #tide’s recycled ocean materials. The DS Super PH1000M is priced at CHF 970 (orange) and CHF 910 (black) and will be available from November 2023.
