At this year’s Geneva Watch Day, Bulgari once again demonstrated its tradition and artistry in the field of jewelry. Two exceptional watches from the record collection for the thinnest wristwatch, the Octo Finissimo Automation and the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar, are presented in a box crafted from “CarbonGold”. This high-tech material combination of carbon and gold elements was introduced by Bulgari in 1993.
This very light and matte anthracite-colored alloy gives a striking elegance to the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automation and Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar . The hour markers, numerals, hands, characters and crown are made of gold, creating a striking luxurious contrast against the high-tech style.
The Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar, honored with the prestigious Aiguille d’Or award at the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, marked the Maison’s seventh record for thinness. Its caliber, the self-winding BVL 305 has a thickness of just 2.75mm.
Despite its svelte design, this workhorse has a substantial 60-hour power reserve and a perpetual calendar complication, ensuring accurate display of the date, day of the week and month , while even taking into account leap years through a backward mechanism until March 1, 2100, at which point leap years will be ignored according to the Gregorian calendar.
Price for the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar is marked at $89,000.
The new Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Auto has a diameter of 40mm and a height of 6.9mm. The time-only watch is powered by the in-house BVL 138 automatic movement, which is just 2.23mm tall. Meticulously finished, it features a micro-rotor and offers a 60-hour power reserve.
Octo Finissimo Carbon Gold Auto retails for $26,800.
