Since its debut in 1963, the Porsche 911 has fascinated fans with its unwavering dedication to performance, precision and innovation. Conceived by Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, this legendary car secured its place in automotive history by achieving an incredible acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds. , demonstrating technical excellence.

The outstanding acceleration of the Porsche 911 not only captivated car enthusiasts but also emphasized Porsche’s pursuit of performance and innovation. It paved the way for the next generations of the 911, pushing boundaries and setting new records for speed and driving dynamics. Over the course of six decades, it has continued to evolve technically while preserving the core essence of its original design. The 911’s impeccable proportions, elegant lines and vibrant character testify to a unique automotive heritage.

To celebrate Porsche’s achievements in speed, TAG Heuer introduces a new caliber in the Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche, the TH20-08 movement, a new version of the in-house TH20 movement launched at Watches and the 2023 Wonder. Designed to ensure short-term measurement accuracy, it reflects the Porsche 901’s acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds. The central stop seconds hand accelerates rapidly, gradually decelerates over 60 seconds, and quickly restarts. This design ensures precise time measurements, with quarter-second resolution for the first 10 seconds and half-second resolution from 10 to 15 seconds, allowing for clear distinctions and enhanced accuracy about time.

The watch dial attracts attention with its visual depiction of velocity and acceleration. The red lines on the inner flange reflect the remarkable 0-100 km/h feat achieved in just 9.1 seconds, paying homage to the original Porsche 911. Further accentuating the automotive charm, additional subtle red accents adorn various parts of the watch. The sub-dial at 6 o’clock has a nod to a 1970s car dashboard, where 50 km/h was often emphasized to indicate the recommended speed in urban environments.

Another tribute to the rich motorsport heritage is seen in the red area of the sub-dial at 9 o’clock, reminiscent of the highest RPM (revolutions per minute) indicator on the dashboard car. It serves as a reminder of the critical engine threshold beyond which damage can occur. Not to be overlooked, the clock hands are inspired by the lines of a car’s dashboard, completing the harmonious automotive design aesthetic.
