Aventador is known as the most successful V12 car line ever of the Lamborghini brand. In addition to a series of upgraded or high-performance versions such as the Aventador SV, Aventador S or SVJ, the brand has also released many unique versions or produced in very small quantities based on the model’s platform. Lamborghini Aventador.
These car models often cost up to millions of dollars and the number of cars produced is only a few dozen cars, or even just one car and is extremely difficult to own. Throughout the life of the Aventador, the brand has launched a series of impressive versions to deliver to customers. Most of these versions are sold to VIP guests with some models being produced in extremely small numbers. Compared to its predecessor, the Murcielago, there are significantly more limited editions based on the Aventador. Let’s review the most unique variants developed by the brand based on the Lamborghini Aventador platform:
Lamborghini Aventador J
This is one of the first unique versions that Lamborghini developed based on the Aventador platform. This Aventador J was developed to bring to the Geneva Motorshow exhibition in 2012. More surprisingly, Lamborghini’s design and engineering team only took a total of about 6 weeks to complete this car. With a selling price of nearly 2.8 million USD, this unique car soon found its owner.
The Aventador J is designed as a Speedster with the hood removed, the car’s interior compartment is divided in half with two low windshields. In addition, details such as the front and rear bumpers of the car have been redesigned to be thinner instead of thick bumpers like the regular Aventador LP700-4. The car is still equipped with a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 700 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 – 100 km/h in just about 3 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of up to 300 km/h. This unique version has limited the maximum speed by Lamborghini due to the lighter overall weight of the car as well as the roofless design structure to ensure driver safety.
Lamborghini Veneno and Veneno Roadster
Lamborghini Veneno is a limited edition launched on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lamborghini brand. Right from the time of launch, the car made a strong impression on car enthusiasts and had a selling price of up to 4 million USD and was recorded as the most expensive commercial car at that time. The car is developed on the Aventador platform with a completely revised overall design with a lengthened front bumper, modified body with a unique separate rear fender design. The car is equipped with a large rear spoiler and a vertical spoiler on the rear engine cover.
The brand only sold 3 commercial versions of the Veneno Coupe, the remaining one is currently on display at the Lamborghini museum. The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster version was launched not long after with a convertible design, without a roof. The number of Lamborghini Veneno Roadster produced is 9 units with a starting price of about 3.9 million USD per unit.
Both versions are equipped with a V12 engine with the ability to produce 740 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. Lamborghini Veneno Coupe is capable of reaching a maximum speed of up to 356 km/h with the ability to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. The Veneno Roadster version has a maximum speed of 355 km/h and can reach 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, 0.1 second less than the Coupe version.
Lamborghini Centenario and Centenario Roadster
By 2016, Lamborghini continued to produce the next unique version based on the Lamborghini Aventador platform, Centenario. This limited edition was produced to celebrate the 100th birthday of brand founder Ferrucio Lamborghini. Centenario is also developed based on the Aventador platform but has been completely redesigned with a bolder, more modern appearance. The rear of the car is streamlined with a large diffuser. Centenario is also one of the first Lamborghini models equipped with rear-wheel steering system. This is also the first Lamborghini model to be equipped with the company’s new infotainment system, which includes a new, more versatile 10.1-inch screen.
The Lamborghini Centenario Roadster was launched at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in 2016. The car has a design similar to the Centenario Coupe but is complete with a convertible structure and no roof panel. Lamborghini Centenario Coupe is equipped with a 6.5 liter V12 engine that can produce 760 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. The Coupe version is capable of accelerating from 0 – 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and has a maximum speed of up to 350 km/h. The Roadster version is also equipped with the same engine but the acceleration from 0 – 100 km/h is about 0.1 second less than the Coupe version.
Lamborghini only produced a total of 20 Centenario Coupes and 20 Centenario Roadsters and most of the cars were personalized by the owner according to their preferences with an extremely unique appearance. The starting price for the Centenario Coupe version is 1.9 million USD per unit, the Centenario Roadster version has a higher price and is set at 2.23 million USD per unit.
Lamborghini SC18 Alston
According to Lamborghini, the SC18 Alston is considered the first One-Off built by the Lamborghini Squadra Corse department in cooperation with customers. The car still has the appearance of an Aventador but has been redesigned to become more aggressive. The model was launched at the end of 2018 and is designed to be more suitable for track use, however the SC18 Alston can still be legal on the street.
SC18 carries extremely aggressive design lines inherited directly from the company’s racing cars such as the Huracan Trofeo EVO and Huracan GT3. The car’s front hood is designed with two large air intakes while the side and rear of the car are equipped with diffusers, side skirts, fish fins and air intakes on the roof inspired by the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO. At the rear, a large fixed wing can be adjusted in height manually, along with an advanced dual exhaust system like the Aventador SVJ and a large diffuser below.
This unique car is still equipped with a 6.5-liter V12 engine capable of producing 770 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque with a 7-speed ISR gearbox. Lamborghini did not announce the specific price of this version, but according to some information sources, the price that buyers have to pay for the SC18 Alston is about 7 million USD.
